Preamble
The Centre for Environment, Poverty and Sustainable Development (CEP&SD) is part of the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) of Mzumbe University (MU). The objective of CEP&SD’s work is to develop and disseminate knowledge on the structures, processes and linkages of significance for the use and protection of Tanzania’s environment and natural resources. In so doing CEP&SD is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the strategic objectives of MU as well as to the achievement of the vision of the IDS to be recognised as a leading institute in Africa for demand driven knowledge generation, application, preservation and dissemination for various economic development by 2025. The centre as well as the pertinent courses focus on adequate mitigation and reduction of the environmental and socio-economic problems to ensure sustainable development in the country.
